Great idea from Santorum re the VA.

Post by oaktonhokie »

Let vets go to private hospitals at the government expense.
Let the VA work on military injuries like prosthetics and PTSD.
Reduce the cost and size of the VA and help the veterans get better service.
Pretty good idea.
If you bend over backwards long enough,
eventually you'll fall down.

Yep. Though other complications show up through the life of a solider that.primary care physicians don't see enough to understand. For example, my granddad had trench foot and so was in out of the VA his entire life getting treatments for that. I still like the idea, just pointing out that a military focused medical practice is briader and with more impacts to patients than seem obvious.

Medicine has become so specialized that I wouldn't think it'd be much of problem to staff some VA docs with the requisite background to treat such maladies. I would imagine.

damn, I'm just glad you figured out what I was saying. That was an awful sentence. I need another phone, I think I'm clicking on one autotype while hitting another. Time to get the 6 inch screen. But yeah, specialists could emerge to fill in the gap. They'll likely be the same doctors.
