Did snowpocalypse live up to the hype?

Post by awesome guy »

It was a bust here, only 10-12 inches. I didn't notice it in the F150, thing is a beast in the snow. It was so good that driving was rather anticlimactic.

ya'll are supposed to get walloped, same with NOVA. We're getting just 2-3 inches in the morning, like VOR's girl. I was looking forward to more of the white stuff, especially with the new truck. But it's just too good on the snow, taking the fun out of it so I'm just sitting around making shrimp and grits. I may go catfishing tomorrow after I take the kids sledding. The bluecats love this type of weather, so might as well try and get a couple while everyone else is too scared to drive.

Ok, I'm changing my mind. The 3rd and 4th quarter were bad here. We're close to 20 inches, enough to bottom out the F150. 4 rpm saved the day, but this crap is now legit. I bet school is out at least a week, the primary roads are still crap and most people can't even get out of their hoods. A mid week warming may help with school, but night temps are going to create black ice. Thankfully, most yuppies are staying home so there isn't much going on for traffic.

I'm guessing we have 15" to 20". I haven't measured. Just a guess.

Baltimore got 30". Sidewalks are shoveled (for IP). Sidestreets and alleys are not plowed.

It'll be a couple days before plows and dump trucks get to the side streets. I'll just work by VPN this week.

Bars and restaurants are open, just a block away.

Looks like the High Knob community near Norton, VA got about 2 feet. Most of that community lies at 3 - 4000 ft elevation though.

I went to brunch and met friends at a bar in the LES last night. Closed?

There are here. The wind was whipping yesterday. My hood has few trees to break it.

Spent a good eight hours today shoveling snow so that our cars can get out, along with helping out some neighbors, so I'm going to be sore as f*** tomorrow. The snowplow peeps that the HOA hired totally half-assed it.
