Apparently all but one person surrendered to police when stopped on the highway. That person was fatally shot, but there's no detail on what exactly happened.

"All of the people arrested on the Oregon highway surrendered to authorities except for one man, later identified as LaVoy Finicum, a spokesman for the group who had previously said he would rather die than go to jail. Another official familiar with the encounter said Finicum refused to surrender and was fatally shot; authorities said Wednesday they were investigating the shooting."

1. It will be important to get specific details into why the police shot the one man. Only then can conclusions be made.
2. It is vital that police be outfitted with cameras due to this and previous instances of fatal police violence.

BTW, the guy killed is the same one I quoted a few weeks back and asked what he'd do if police drew a gun on him:

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your prior post. It seemed you were trying to differentiate between this shooting and another by claiming in the other the police had a reason for shooting based on the person being shot's past and current behavior. I was pointing out that armed occupation of a federal building would probably fall under a reason that police would pull you over.

I didn't speculate, I said the reactions themselves will be interesting. My reaction didn't "seem to indicate" anything, you're reading your own interpretation into it (which is what you always do). In fact my "reaction" (if you could call it that) has been pretty much limited to my comment saying it will be interesting to see how people respond to this. Nowhere did I say anything remotely close to "the guy did something violent to the cops".
