how in the communist times, you could not have an open air religious gathering in a public place. There would be police in the crowd he said and you'd get turned in.
He did not mention if the police were protecting the civil liberties of the citizens.
Good thing that could never happen here.
Marxism is always looking out for us. Telling us that we need insurance and what kind is acceptable.
That we may not eat trans fats or drink too much soda (cigs and liquor are ok, hmmm)
That we may not build on a "wetland" or drill for oil on public land.
And we may not sing Christmas carols, hold church services in our homes, acknowledge Christmas or god (other than allah, when studying world "history") And wishing someone a merry Christmas is offensive.
The good of the collective.
Good thing it can't happen here....

If you bend over backwards long enough,
eventually you'll fall down.

There's a couple libs from TSL UWS who would probably agree that religious gatherings shouldn't occur in public under some contrived interpretation of the 1st Amendment.

Summer tent revivals used to be held at the local high school stadiums here in Smyth County until the school board stopped it a few years ago.
It wasn't that the revivals couldn't be held but anything less than a Billy Graham Crusade meeting couldn't afford the liability insurance and other stipulations.

I only post using 100% recycled electrons.

I imagine in today's climate any "meeting" on public/government grounds would be met with much protestation and threats of legal action, likely from some group from out of state on behalf of one person who somehow finds offense.Major Kong wrote:Summer tent revivals used to be held at the local high school stadiums here in Smyth County until the school board stopped it a few years ago.
