Today is the 72nd anniversary of DDay, the Normandy Landings

Post by miles »

One of my most revered heroes is Theodore Roosevelt, Jr.
I'm sure that several on this board have little knowledge about him and I won't go into it here, but will link wiki below:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodore_Roosevelt_Jr.

Later in his life, Omar Bradley was asked about the bravest, most heroic thing he'd ever seen. He replied,
"Ted Roosevelt on Utah Beach".

Yup he saved the landings at Utah Beach...although the defense of Utah wasn't as severe as on Omaha the landings were spread out and TR Jr. kept them together and moving inland.

The pain the man was in had to be excruciating but he was there from the start and he didn't need any damn safe place.

Yes it is! Good reminder. Was thinking of this anniversary yesterday.
So I put (the dead dog) on her doorstep!
Salute the Marines
Soon we'll have planes that fly 22000 mph
"#PedoPete" = Hunter's name for his dad.
