do you agree that refusing to cooperate and being belligerent to the cop was a factor in what happened to her? If she had let the cop close the car door then he never would have told her to get out, correct?ip_law-hokie wrote:Video: Austin police body-slam black teacher, tell her blacks have ‘violent tendencies’ - The Washington Post - http://www.washingtonpost.com

but yes, when being pulled over getting belligerent and not listening is always the best possible way to handle a simple traffic ticket

she got out of the car debating the cop on why he was doing his job, he asked her to get in the car so he could close the door, she flatly refused to let him close the door. OF course they dropped the charges and she gets a settlement, its the world we live in. As for what the cop said, sorry, black crime stats are way out of whack compared to their portion of the population. And it continues to be true, the biggest danger to a black person... is another black person.ip_law-hokie wrote:I'll have to watch the video again, but I didn't find her to be belligerent.cwtcr hokie wrote:do you agree that refusing to cooperate and being belligerent to the cop was a factor in what happened to her? of course zero of that action would have been necessary if the person had complied with his requests, if she would not let him close the door and got out when it became obvious she was not going to let him close the door then he would not have had to pull her out, correct?ip_law-hokie wrote:Do cops typically body slam middle aged women?CFB Apologist wrote:June 2015... nothing to see here.. also, do they typically report the occupation of the person stopped for a traffic violation? yes, definitely. He was trying to gain control of a subject, she was resisting, he did not do anything to purposely hurt her but even tho he was bigger than her you saw how difficult it was to gain control of her to cuff her..... simple fact, she was resisting arrest which came about because she refused to comply with simple requests.ip_law-hokie wrote:Do you think this person should remain a cop? do an expirement, refuse cops requests and then refuse to be cuffed, see what happens no matter who you are or what color or anything else for that matter. Again, do you agree she stays calm, complies with the simple requests and nothing happens to her or do you think this guy wanted to put his career in jeopardy for a traffic stop? or that he hated that person and wanted to beat her up?

I've disputed tickets much more aggressively than she did. Exited the car to point out the point of contention with the cop. The cop told me that he respected my opinion but he was writing me a ticket. He did not body slam me, tell me to get back in the car, or put handcuffs on me.cwtcr hokie wrote:of course zero of that action would have been necessary if the person had complied with his requests, if she would not let him close the door and got out when it became obvious she was not going to let him close the door then he would not have had to pull her out, correct?ip_law-hokie wrote:Do cops typically body slam middle aged women?CFB Apologist wrote:June 2015... nothing to see here.. also, do they typically report the occupation of the person stopped for a traffic violation? Re: Restoring Law and Order, Pig style
I've had probably a dozen interactions with cops. Probably the worst interaction I've had was a cop who didn't want to give me a lift to get gas (what a dick). I've never received a single ticket - not even a parking ticket. I attribute it to my good nature and pleasant attitude which you all know and love.RiverguyVT wrote:I knew a really bad cop. Re: Restoring Law and Order, Pig style
People who claim to believe in small government should be the most appalled by this. Armed government agents thinking it's ok to slam a woman who has her feet outside of the car instead of inside occur while she is being cited in a parking lot over a traffic misdemeanor? It's beyond absurd that you guys want to give this much unilateral power to treat non threatening citizens with force. I don't expect any of you to change your opinion within this thread but think about if this were your mom and your mom, the sweet law abiding citizen she was for the entirety of your life. This type of policing of our citizens is an inexcusable over reach of government.

Re: Restoring Law and Order, Pig style
You make a good point, BG..right up until you insinuate that cops actually have this "power" and it goes on without checks and balances. That is not true. You can't lawfully assault someone at a traffic stop if you are a cop.. that is not allowed, it's against the law and cops are prosecuted and fired for this on a regular basis. Your mom could have just as easily been body slammed and robbed in the wrong parking lot by a civilian. To claim the government has given cops this "power" to assault people is nonsense- that is not in the police code, law, handbook, whatever. What police DO have the "power" to do is use their judgement and training in order to keep the people in their jurisdiction safe. 98% of the time they do this without incident or abuse of "power".BG Hokie wrote:People who claim to believe in small government should be the most appalled by this. You have people in this thread attempting to paint a picture that the cop was in the right. There are people that think this is acceptable behavior for our armed government officials. awesome guy and cwcter, are fine with the government having this much power.
