Being too poor for sit down meals isn't heroic.

Nah. We just think there are better options than Applebee's. I don't have anything against Applebee's, but if I'm living in a city with options, I'm probably going to dine at a better place.awesome guy wrote:Being too poor for sit down meals isn't heroic.

1. Blue apron is garbage.
2. Better fast food chains are really pushing out the Applebees of the world IMO: Panera's, Moe's, Five Guys, etc. You can get food that's equivalent to an Applebees paying at a kiosk for half the price.

Re: Millennials are basically heroes
The advantage a chain can have is an expectation of a certain level of quality. If you go to any McDonalds in he US, you know what you are getting when you get there. If the quality waivers, the exact opposite effect can happen as well.
Applebees has probably done what all businesses do when they get bloated with middle management and uncompetitive cost structures, they cut cost from the product, figuring no one will notice. Eventually the company exists to serve its own bureaucracy more than anything else. It gets lazy. Lazy kills you. All these big chains are old businesses now. It would make sense that they are being replaced by new chains that are focused more on product. This is why capitalism is great. It is never easy to win.

That's a good point, and dovetails with my own: places like applebees are really nothing more than expensive fast food.Bay_area_Hokie wrote:The advantage a chain can have is an expectation of a certain level of quality. When Quiznos started, their prices were higher, but you got a better product. Over time, they nickel and dimed themselves into an expensive subway. Now they're out of business.

Re: Millennials are basically heroes
What's heroic about not going to Applebee's? Saying stuff like that is why people call millenials retarded.
Correct. Never ordered it; saw a Blue Apron 'meal' over at a buddy's place. It was Huevos Rancheros for dinner. Not shirting you, that 'meal' for two included two whole eggs. Eggs are what, like less than 10 cents apiece? And they were labeled "Farm Eggs". WhereTF else would an egg come from but a farm? I think that 'meal' was like $20.USN_Hokie wrote:1. In fairness, anyone should be forgiven for just assuming that you'd type something that ridiculous, though.nolanvt wrote:Pssst, there was a tad of sarcasm in there.PolyTech wrote:What's heroic about not going to Applebee's? Saying stuff like that is why people call millenials retarded.

Statement of fact, not anything emotional. Try that sometime - your reception here will be much better.nolanvt wrote:It ain't that serious, guy. Me not being received well by The Usuals isn't a bad thing. I consider it a source of pride, in fact.PolyTech wrote:Statement of fact, not anything emotional.
