Probably a bit of confirmation bias, as terrorism news stories tend to elicit in the US population.

The population of Belgium increased 4.1% between 2008-2014, yet:

- Absolute number of homicide offenses is steady
- Absolute number of assault offenses has decreased
- Absolute number of sexual violence is steady
- Absolute number of rape offenses has decreased
- Absolute number of sexual assault offenses is up 2.9%, lower than the population growth (i.e. rate has decreased)

In case you think the lack of police officers is to blame, police force has decreased only 1.65% in that time period.

Belgium has the highest per capita homicide rate and third highest per capita rape of EU member countries. Incidentally, it also has the 3rd highest Muslim population %.

It does not have the highest per capita homicide rate among EU members. Lithuania and Latvia are higher.

Also, have you compared the Muslim populations of European countries vs. their incidences of homicide and rape? Specifically look at Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, etc.

You didn't think I hadn't looked all this up, did you? Here is the data. Countries with populations under 2m are excluded because data is spotty. Macedonia, Bosnia, and Herzegovina (lol, really?) aren't EU states, but the rule doesn't apply because they have organic, european muslim populations. Plenty of muslim refugees from those countries emigrated North and integrated. That's not what we're talking about.

By your own data, Belgium has a pretty significant problem compared to other EU states.
