Imran Awan is a Pakistani-born IT guru who was a longtime aide to former Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. A Fox News employee is reporting that Awan was arrested at Dulles International Airport in Washington DC on Monday night. Apparently, he was trying to flee the country.

Chad Pergram of Fox News reported that federal agents and the U.S. Capitol Police placed Awan in custody and charged him with multiple counts of bank fraud.

The arrest is in connection with a federal investigation of an information technology procurement scandal involving the U.S. House of Representatives.

According to numerous reports, Awan has been the lead suspect in an ongoing criminal investigation into security breaches within the House of Representatives. The investigation was started on Feb. 2 of this year.

Reportedly, Awan doubled charged the U.S. House of Rep. for IT equipment and may have exposed sensitive House members’ information online.

Remarkably, Wasserman Schultz kept Awan on her payroll despite the IT pro being banned from accessing government servers from Capital security .

This story is stinking worse every day. This guy's name is in the DNC emails, and it just so happens that a guy with the same name wrote opinion pieces for CNN...

The Daily Caller is reporting that the Pakistani IT staffers wired $283,000 from Congressional Federal Credit Union in a House office building to two people in Pakistan. Awan was also carrying $12,000 on him at the time of the arrest.

Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s top information technology (IT) aide was arrested Monday attempting to board a flight to Pakistan after wiring $283,000 from the Congressional Federal Credit Union to that country.

He attempted to leave the country hours after The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group revealed that he is the target of an FBI investigation, and the FBI apprehended him at the airport.

Credit union officials permitted the wire to go through, and his wife has already fled the country to Pakistan, after police confronted her at the airport and found $12,000 in cash hidden in her suitcase but did not stop her from boarding, court documents show.
