Reports are that Google fired the Google manifesto writer...

If so, pretty funny in light if their diversity officer's comments. Open debate, so long as you toe the line.

Yep. The comments from the Gizmodo article are, predictably, full of SJW stupid group think.

Re: Google Manifesto?
He had the right to say what he did, and Google has the right to fire him for it, particularly if his statements did in fact violate their corporate code of conduct. It's a two way street.nolanvt wrote:Looks like the guy violated the Code of Conduct and was terminated.

He has put his opinion front and center for public debate. I'm curious to see what comes of it.
Re: Google Manifesto?
Yup. I don't mind the public debate, but if I wanted to remain employed at Google, I'd me smart enough to keep my mouth shut.133743Hokie wrote:He had the right to say what he did, and Google has the right to fire him for it, particularly if his statements did in fact violate their corporate code of conduct. Re: Google Manifesto?
Them firing him for his comments just proved him right. I'm sure Nolan would cry foul over an employer firing an employee for supporting gay marriage or whatever other cause he supports. Diversity is a one-way street to them.133743Hokie wrote:He had the right to say what he did, and Google has the right to fire him for it, particularly if his statements did in fact violate their corporate code of conduct. Sorry, but "firing him for his comments just proved him right"? That doesn't make any sense. I have no idea what point you are trying to make here.
He was fired for violating a corporate policy.

Re: Google Manifesto?
His manifesto was about corporate policy and how it is PC nonsense. They proved him right.133743Hokie wrote:???????????awesome guy wrote:Them firing him for his comments just proved him right. His manifesto was about the differences between men and women in the tech field and how they were trying to put square pegs in round holes.awesome guy wrote:His manifesto was about corporate policy and how it is PC nonsense. Re: Google Manifesto?
Yes, and that their policy is misguided/ politically correct. Surely you can grasp that he was arguing to end the diversity policies?133743Hokie wrote:His manifesto was about the differences between men and women in the tech field and how they were trying to put square pegs in round holes.awesome guy wrote:His manifesto was about corporate policy and how it is PC nonsense. Feelz before realz, bro.
Re: Google Manifesto?
Given Google's collusion with the DoD/political establishment and censorship strategy, I'm encouraged liberalism will collapse the company internally.
Re: Google Manifesto?
My understanding is that Google encourages this type of debate.133743Hokie wrote:He had the right to say what he did, and Google has the right to fire him for it, particularly if his statements did in fact violate their corporate code of conduct. Sure, we can say that he violated their code if conduct, but one could make a better argument that Google policies (professional classes for minorities only? WTF?) violate their code of conduct. It's squishy and subjective.
By the way, I'd bet my paycheck they gave him a giant severance with a STFU clause in it.
