A much smaller group of pro-Trump counter-protesters were seen holding up signs in support of the president; they were kept separate from the anti-Trump protesters.

This is what the police are SUPPOSED to do. Instead, the Charlottesville police allowed two armed gangs of extremists to fight it out in the street.

I'd guess the NYPD was doing their jobs since they were protecting the one president who supports the police.

There are hundreds of protest like this every year. The NYPD always maintains order, regardless of the cause.

Yep. Are towns/cities culpable if they fail to uphold the law in the face of explicit violence? I realize these situations are highly fluid, but I can't believe they haven't had pertinent training. If localities do not have the necessary training then the Governor needs to call in the National Guard to maintain order.

I'm glad to hear that. I fully support peaceful protests, but the violence must end.
