Trump was on TV a moment ago, saying he didn't give a rip about the boat being named for McCain; re-iterated that he really, really didn't like McCain at all, but that the boat name wasn't on his radar.

To me, this seems like the most obvious, and probably correct, take.

Hoof's picture is fake news. The picture was taken 4(?) days before Trump arrived...the tarp covering the stern was there for some work being done and removed before Trump was there.

Supposedly, the staffers made the request due to optics/press if a picture was taken of Trump with the namesake in the background. I totally get that, though the optics of their request were just as bad.

Ummm...this isn't news. No one really denied that the request was made, but it was not made by Trump and the order was never carried out. Trump himself acknowledged that someone with good intentions made the request, but he didn't know about it.
