Mnuchin's non-trophy wife seems like a very nice person

Post by HooFighter »

Mnuchin’s Wife Mocks Oregon Woman Over Lifestyle and Wealth

WASHINGTON — The wife of the Treasury secretary on Monday night took a page from President Trump’s social media playbook for punching down.

Louise Linton, the labels-loving wife of Steven Mnuchin, replied condescendingly to an Instagram poster about her lifestyle and belittled the woman, Jenni Miller, a mother of three from Portland, Ore., for having less money than she does.

The brouhaha began when Ms. Linton posted a photograph of herself disembarking a military jet emblazoned with official government markings. She had joined her husband on a quick trip to Kentucky with the Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell.

“Great #daytrip to #Kentucky!” Ms. Linton, 36, wrote under the photograph. She then added hashtags for various pieces of her expensive wardrobe, listing #rolandmouret, #hermesscarf, #tomford and #valentino.

Ms. Miller, 45, wrote under the photograph, “Glad we could pay for your little getaway. #deplorable.”

Instead of ignoring Ms. Miller, Ms. Linton — whose account had been public — replied with snark. (Ms. Linton changed her Instagram account to a private setting soon after the photograph was posted.)

“Aw!!! Did you think this was a personal trip?! Adorable!” she wrote. “Do you think the US govt paid for our honeymoon or personal travel?! Lololol. Have you given more to the economy than me and my husband? Either as an individual earner in taxes OR in self sacrifice to your country?”

Ms. Linton went on: “I’m pretty sure we paid more taxes toward our day ‘trip’ than you did. Pretty sure the amount we sacrifice per year is a lot more than you’d be willing to sacrifice if the choice was yours.” After that, she included emojis of a curled bicep and a face blowing a kiss.

“You’re adorably out of touch,” she said, later adding, “your life looks cute” before concluding, “Go chill out and watch the new game of thrones. It’s fab!”

Mr. Mnuchin is a wealthy businessman and a former executive at Goldman Sachs who worked on deals with Mr. Trump before Mr. Trump became president. Ms. Linton is an actress who posed with the diamonds she wore at their June wedding for a Town and Country magazine spread.

Screenshots of Ms. Linton’s Instagram post went viral on Twitter, where her comments to Ms. Miller were mocked.

Ms. Miller, a registered Democrat, said in a telephone interview that she was taken aback by Ms. Linton’s words.

“If she hadn’t made her account private, I would have written back with a very snide Marie Antoinette joke,” Ms. Miller said.

“I think my post was just five or six words, and she had to go on basically a rant about it to make herself look more important and look smarter, better, richer — all those things,” she said, adding that she regretted letting Ms. Linton get under her skin.

Ms. Miller could not understand why Ms. Linton highlighted her brand labels on a trip to Kentucky, a state with a high poverty rate.

A Treasury Department official declined to comment on Ms. Linton’s post. But the official said that the Mnuchins reimbursed the government for the trip, and that Ms. Linton was not compensated by any of the labels she promoted with hashtags.

Ms. Miller said that Ms. Linton should have had a better filter for her responses.

“It seems like she’s been in public life for a long time,” she said. “It just seemed wholly inappropriate.”

rich folks brag....who knew????? Mrs. Munchin points were accurate tho, my guess is the lady in OR will not get close to what he has paid in income taxes in her lifetime. But bitching about gov. employees traveling is moronic and as with anybody else his travel is on the gov, but hers is on him

Hoof is probably part of the old mob outrage that has seemed to die finally.. "poor people pay more taxes than rich people".. that was a popular hashtag back when Obama was trying to start a class war. Thankfully enough people that had educations above second grade were on social media to dispel that quickly- in both parties. The trophy wife is 100% correct- 1. It was not a tax payer vacation she was on- it was work. and 2. She does pay more in taxes than the teacher from Oregon. IIWII

So I guess you think that was an appropriate response from the wife of a cabinet member.

And then you'd cry about that. What if your ilk decided to be smart and magnanimous for a day or couple weeks? Imagine how that could change things instead of convincing us tbat you're a simpleton and a jackass.

If she had just made the stupid Instagram post no one would be talking about this. It was her idiotic condescending response to the woman.

or better yet, the person that responded to her post to make her feel guilty or bad for having money could have kept her jealousy off the internet? how about that choice. I think it is stupid to pay 2 million for a house but I don't go on the internet to make people that do that feel bad for spending their own money... its called class

but I guess when you are attacked you grab your teddy bear and cry for momma, I respond as the trophy wife did

So, is this how the story goes?
A woman was mean to Mnuchin's wife, and Mnuchin's wife was mean back... and now it is Mnuchin's wife who is a gargoyle?

That's just it. The only point is to shade anyone remotely attached to having an "R" behind their name as a devil spawn.

Bull crap. One woman went ugly after another woman. Second woman goes ugly back. So, according to the MSM and Bolshevik morons, it is the second woman who shall be destroyed.

your TDS can be calmed now, she apologized to the envious person that was trying to shame her. I never would have done that, you have a right to respond to a mindless attack. IN other news she is a former actress so shockingly she likes to be noticed (kind of required to be an actor or actress) and she did not get any money for her naming her brands and the gov. did not pay a dime for her expenses or travel.

TDS allayed for now

Hey, good for her.

Treasury secretary's wife calls her Instagram flap 'indefensible'
“I want to say I concede completely to the comments of my critics. My post itself and the following response were indefensible. Period. I don’t have any excuses, nor do I feel any self-pity for the backlash I experienced. I sincerely take ownership of my mistake. It’s clear that I was the one who was truly out of touch and my response was reactionary and condescending. I wish I hadn’t spoken in such a patronizing tone. It was an out of character, knee-jerk reaction, and I felt so awful about it that I removed it.”
