I remember it being one of the more powerful books I read in middle school, so this is a shame.

School board vice president Kenny Holloway says the district received complaints that some of the book's language "makes people uncomfortable."
So what? There's quite a bit in this world that makes people uncomfortable. Learn to deal with it. Don't cover it up and pretend everything is happy and rosy. That's not the real world. The sooner people recognize this, the better.
