Paraphrasing from my letter to cong'man griffith.

Post by oaktonhokie »

Re the SALT tax provision, why not reverse the tax deduction from federal to state?

That is, let the states deduct by some formula, the amount of taxes paid to the feds. That way, virginians are not subsidizing the waste and corruption in new york and california by raising virginia's federal obligations to offset the federal shortfall caused by the socialist states allowing reductions to federal taxes due to the obscene amount of state taxes paid.

The corrupt state governments would have to get by with less. Which means less money for patronage, corruption, waste and inefficiency. Less money for sanctuary cities.

I said while i have little hope but no confidence that the freedom caucus will try to act, i have no hope and no confidence that the GOPe will act, as all they do is whine.

I told him that this is the first time in my voting life that i did not vote for the republican ticket in the governor's race. That "none of the above" got my vote for governor.

I cited the likes of darryl issa and john king (and senators mccain and snow) as the reasons i left the GOP.

I said i voted for him and would likely continue.

I emphasized likely, not certainly.

Each state has its own tax code. There is nothing that says a state legislature can't make federal taxes paid deductible.

But your logic is wrong. Even with their high state income taxes being deductible, CA and NY are contributing more to the fed in income taxes than they are receiving in federal benefits/return.
