Perfect. I suggest using the model used by Monsieur de Grandpre and Monsieur de Pique, dueling while in hot air balloons. The actual duel they held was to be a blunderbuss battle from hot air balloons. Oh, and they had co-pilots to help them fly the balloons. De Pique lost. De Grandpre won by shooting the balloon, not the person.
Which meant that the balloon burst, and De Pique and his copilot fell to their deaths. Seems like a fitting story for this race, and politics in general. Hot air, arrogance, and unintended consequences.
