Yup. I asked for takers. You all were a bunch of pussy hat wearing non-takers.

So movie has made $17mil domestically. Does that cover advertising and promotion?

It’s a smash.......

Nope. Owned up to my mistake, which rarely occurs here.

You should have taken the bet.......

Spielberg fast tracked a movie to glorify the Post and the NYT. Stars Tom Hanks and......Meryl Streep. They did this to combat the Trumpster turning the left’s initial “fake news” (Fox) mantra back on them....and in a much more effective way. They won’t admit it, but it’s exactly why they made this movie.

$50M budget.........$2M opening.......finished behind a ShiRt ton of movies in revenue.
Got it.

I saw the movie over the weekend. I was surprised (not really) to see that the movie was largely critical of Kennedy, LBJ and the chummy relationships between newspaper leadership and the political elite. One can draw parallels between Nixon's view of the press and Trump's, but to think this movie is about Trump is silly.

It was a good movie.

I never thought it was about Trump. The newspapers are still chummy......with one side.

I must have misinterpreted your statement that "'[t]hey won’t admit it, but it’s exactly why they made this movie."

And taking what you say about the chummy statement to be true, why is that a knock against this movie? Have you seen the movie?

My knock against the movie is Spielberg making paralleles between then and now and calling the press “truth tellers”, when they obviously are not today. He made the movie to make the press look noble when Trump is calling them out for their complete and utter bias.

I haven’t seen the movie. I’m sure it’s good as a movie. I like Tom Hanks work.

Meryl Streep was good too. Saul Goodman and Jesse from Breaking Bad have key roles.

I think BCS is one of the best shows on tv today. I’m hoping they decide to do a what happened to Jesse series.

BB was just a great show and I think Vince Gilligan is the best character developer in tv right now.

I just started reading Katherine the Great detailing how Katherine Graham and Ben Bradlee were firmly part of the American elite. The author describes how the book was initially scuttled by Graham, Bradlee, and other establishment figures like David Ignatius.

Far different perspective than the one perpetuated by Spielberg.

I'm not sure that it's that different Dante. That was what was presented in the movie.
