That's just not true, they were pushed there by the courts. Only a handful had voted to legalize gay marriage. The issue was forced on the states by the courts, not popular vote. Bans largely won by popular vote.

I thought the Colorado Republican, Cory Gardner has a respectable stance on the issue. He didn't support it initially but respects that the will of the voters have made it so and is now seeking to protect his constituency. It would be nice if big gov could butt their way out.
Let's leave gay marriage out of this

OK. given that the feds don't enforce speed limits, you should be OK.

Or if you wanted your statement to have any relevance to the issue at hand, you could hold state elections to state that the prohibition on speed limits and robbing banks shall be lifted.
With their Cap’n and Chief Intelligence Officer having deserted them, River, Ham and Joe valiantly continue their whataboutismistic last stand of the DJT apology tour.

The feds mandate what states can set as speed limits. Are you sure you're a lawyer or is that a Manchester meth head delusion?

Screw 1995!
The National speed limit is not a bad analogy. It was set at a stupid low limit of 55, and almost no one obeyed it. States fought to get rid of it. They made some progress to loosen fed control. Then, in 1995, they got the fed law completely repealed and the fed now has no power over speed limits.
Similar arc as most reversals of most fed power grabs, and it has worked out for the better.

Feds don't set speed limits, therefore they don't enforce them. Hint: the Fed influences speed limitations thru the funding process.

The Fed has set pot laws so it is up to them to enforce them.

The tying of funding and speed limits ended in 1995.

I hadn’t really thought about Mc’s take before ....interesting solid thought..., and agree w IP. This is a miscue by the administration. Soooo many more urgent issues. Want to play politics w the drug issue? Okay, fine. Let’s go after the opiate epidemic that is actually killing people every day.

You guys are missing the point, the federal government can't stand by and watch open lawlessness or they secede authority by default. Regardless of what you think about the law, we have to follow the law. This is the biggest issue for Sessions outside of Crooked Hillary as it's an issue of federal authority.
But Sessions isn't enforcing the federal laws. He's leaving the decision up to the local U.S. atty's. If enforcing the federal prohibition is his goal, he should be man enough to do it.
