HT I have some pictures for you that you may like.
Railroad trestle and track work...McCready's Gap, Virginia...circa 1912
The original McCready's Gap trestle was built to extend rail service to the gypsum plant at North Holston, just northeast of McCready's Gap.
This line from Saltville would give three plants in the valley access to the main N&W branch line coming into Saltville from Glade Spring with hookups at Saltville and Plasterco, just west of Saltville.
This trestle, built by Southern Gypsum, contained 185,000 feet of lumber.
Later, this trestle would be replaced by one with concrete support tiers that are still standing on the road from McCready to Poor Valley.
McCready's Gap lies just northeast of Saltville with part of the community within the town limits. And of course you know this one circa 1952.
