They need to go further back, and maybe broaden the dataset to just mass shootings. Seems like cherrypicking.
From 1982 to 2004, there were 7 years, out of 23, where deaths from mass shootings topped 10 murders.
From 2005 to 2018, there was 1 year out of 14, where there fewer than 10 murders from mass shootings.
And it's been posted before, but 19 of the deadliest mass shootings since 1949, have occurred in the last 10 years.
Trying to argue that mass shootings haven't been more common, even if still rare, takes a lot of fact picking.

LOL its like Frank Beamer's career numbers- if you are not a fan, you can run them in a way that would say he sucked wind as a coach, despite him being in the hall of fame. I'm sure if we run the gun numbers a certain way, people should not leave their houses or put their kids in any school.HokieFanDC wrote:They need to go further back, and maybe broaden the dataset to just mass shootings. LOL, it's hilarious that you pass off that crap and then accuse others of cherry-picking. You should read the article again, it was far more rigorous than your CNN talking points.HokieFanDC wrote:They need to go further back, and maybe broaden the dataset to just mass shootings. The article was pretty good, but it was more in depth when it got outside of the narrow idea about school shootings. That crap is about all mass shootings, not just schools. And it's a broader time period. It seems that the time period was chosen purposefully, and only school shootings, because that is the only way you can make a claim about mass shootings being on the decline.USN_Hokie wrote:LOL, it's hilarious that you pass off that crap and then accuse others of cherry-picking. The crap I presented is just as rigorous, just a different perspective.
I'll give you 5 yawns on your tired talking point tactic. To you, any fact you don't like is a talking point.
Here's one of my CNN talking points, chuckles.
