Area is the top choice for amazons hq2. I think dc was under-rated early on, amazons primary threats now are government regulations both domestic and abroad. Bezos loves dc and you have the educated workforce. Atlanta is cheap and has cheap housing and cheap wages and cheaper land, but their government is acting in ways inconsistent with amazons values with the laws about homosexuality and of course their support for the unpopular NRA. I don't see how they could choose Georgia after this PR.

Love the quote from va's gov "hey @delta, Virginia is for lovers and airline hubs." Ironic that the Virginia gov, home state to the nra's lawyers slammed on the Georgia governor after his misstep.

I've got mixed feelings about winning the whole hq2 sweepstakes. The state will likely spend a fortune on tax breaks and public transport improvements, might end up like "winning" the biggest to host the Olympic Games .

Also not an argument: fatman's trolling.

PS: fatman could be built like Olive Oil for all I know, but with his username I assume he's OK with fat jokes. Not a personal insult.

Sounds like ATL may dodge a bullet here if Bezos is planning on coming into an area and imposing his "values" on a community that doesn't share them. If his "values" are what matters, then DC is a much more natural home for him and his monopoly. Plus he'll have more lobbying access to Democrats that he wants to buy & pay for.

If I'm a competing city, I wouldn't worry just yet. These are probably the same experts that said Hillary was a lock for president.

Oh, I’m sure laws about homosexuality are foremost in Amazon’s capital expenditure strategies.

“the unpopular NRA”
