So the State Dept. basically said Acapulco is too dangerous for Spring Breakers. They said if you must go to Mexico limit it to isolated, all-inclusive resorts in Cancun and Cabos. They have armed guards. Why aren't the snowflakes marching against that? I also read that more young people have joined the NRA in protest of the forced student protest marches. They give an excellent rate to 15-21 year olds.

I am starting to wonder something very contrarian.

What if all the negative news on Mexico was fake, and exists to stop us all from moving there, renouncing our citizen, and cutting off the tax revenue from the US govt.

I watch a lot of vids on YouTube about US people living there, and I can only imagine the dent they could put in the US if people migrated. I don’t think it would take more than $1M to retire there and live like a king, and millions of people in Cali have that much equity in their homes.

the violence problems they have are pretty well documented but just as in the US it is about your location, there are parts of Charlotte you do not want to live in, your chances of dying are much much higher than other parts

There’s parts of Mexico City that reminded me of the upper east side. I think it would cost more than $1M to retire in such a location tho. There’s a lot of money in Mexico City.

I could handle Hermosillo with no problem.

I see a lot of vids about Lake Chapalta. Lots of Yanks there and apts are $500/month . Lots of people could swing it on SS and a nest egg.

But then I ask myself, if it is so livable why are people sneaking in here? Is it really about the unskilled finding work + welfare?

LOL come on bay area. Seriously? Mexico is a total shirthole. Try getting a job there and living on the Peso. Even a "good" job. If you are really lucky with your 28K per year (American dollars) salary, you might live in an area where the drug cartels are not in 100% total control of the local police, but I highly doubt it. There is a reason American's in El Paso and Nogales avoid even day trips to Mexico like the plague. It's shirt- and not an American conspiracy either.

Like I said, you should go. Can I recommend a weekend in Juarez? It's great, check you tube videos. You should spend a wekend there to test the waters/see if you want to retire there. Take your passport though, Illegal immigration is highly enforced and not tolerated on any level.

Oh hell yeah especially in re to air pollution. Mexico has some decent waste rules but a little greasing of officials and it's no problem.

I used to do some sampling work in Cananea and the difference between the AZ was Sonora was unbelievable...the water was freakin' nasty.

Panama also has some of the more lax gun laws in South/central America.
