nothing at all surprises me about the moron state of Kali, that proposal is totally assinine though. What it will lead to is people not willing to be in law enforcement in Kali or just totally backing away if the criminal is holding anything at all..... yea, criminals go free!!!!!

But if they were to pass it I would guess crime skyrockets as there will not be many law enforcement people on the job....good luck kali....please secede

California would disarm police in a heartbeat if they could- and they are probably close to doing that in terms of a Dem voting block.

Yeah. It’s asinine......as is this:
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Title 14.5 (commencing with Section 3085) is added to Part 4 of Division 3 of the Civil Code, to read:
TITLE 14.5. False Information Strategic Plans
3085. (a) Any person who operates a social media Internet Web site with physical presence in California shall develop a strategic plan to verify news stories shared on its Internet Web site.
(b) The strategic plan shall include, but is not limited to, all of the following:
(1) A plan to mitigate the spread of false information through news stories.
(2) The utilization of fact-checkers to verify news stories.
(3) Providing outreach to social media users regarding news stories containing false information.
(4) Placing a warning on a news story containing false information.
(c) As used in this section, “social media” means an electronic service or account, or electronic content, including, but not limited to, videos, still photographs, blogs, video blogs, podcasts, instant and text messages, email, online services or accounts, or Internet Web site profiles or locations.

That's stupid. Lets hope it doesn't pass. I'm sure the unions will not go for it.

I don't find that to be as silly as the law proposed in USN's post.
With their Cap’n and Chief Intelligence Officer having deserted them, River, Ham and Joe valiantly continue their whataboutismistic last stand of the DJT apology tour.

Wouldn't such a law run afoul of the First Amendment? Who determines what is a "news" story vs a work of fiction posted for entertainment value? Who determines which "fact checker" is the arbiter of the truth?

In the end the CA government does because they would be enforcing this law and through that enforcement would determine what is censored because if the enforcers feel it's fake and it's not censored the company is in violation. The bigger issue with this is that by it's very standard (any service with a physical presence in CA) it ends up applying CA's laws to the world.
Looks like the only thing 1984 got wrong was the date.

Yup. Not surprised he doesn’t “Got It”. Both are extremely silly.....and dangerous.
