First, Trump says he knows nothing about the payments. No privilege on something he's not involved with.
Second, that privilege doesn't apply if it relates to any criminal or fraudulent activity.

Something Cohen did on his own apart from his duties for Trump is obviously not covered by attorney-client privilege ... but (at least one) problem is that they are using the pretense of investigating the payments as an excuse for seizing documents that ARE covered.

Not sure that's the case. When they seize documents and communications, there is a separate group of people that goes through all the docs and determines which ones are related to the payments, which ones are covered by attorney client privilege, and which ones are not covered by attorney client privilege. These are people that are not involved with the case.

Nope, not taking bets, but it's a small team, so easy to source a leak. But, my "claims of protection" aren't a farce, it's just how it's done. You can make the claim that it's a farce in this situation, because you believe everything legal issue regarding Trump or his associates is a farce.

This was just a bullshiite excuse to see what they could see. Their predicate claim (Wusha, Wusha, Wusha) has no merit, so we get this clustercluck.

Naw, it's a farce because it's an investigation looking for a crime. Total farce, everyone not blindly political can see that.

On the other part, I'm not assuming that at all. But, not every communication between Trump and Cohen is privileged. Some is, some isn't.

Now they're saying it had nothing to do with Stormy and it was the the stupid access Hollywood tape.

Hoof is drooling over a Trump appointee not including a 2nd tier subsidiary on his form, dead silence over Obama not even bothering to get clearances for his aids. Not to mention his candidate taking in hundreds of millions from foreign governments while secretary of state. They've lost the moral high ground to bitch about any of this.

Ummm...that came from Cohen's lawyer. Granted, I wouldn't put any trust in a lawyer representing Cohen.
