Sessions investigating Left-wing Slush Fund

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is investigating up to $6 billion in legal settlement money that the Obama administration steered toward progressive causes and allies in left-wing advocacy groups.

A memo sent to US attorneys on July 28, published Friday by Breitbart news, ordered a review of a decade’s worth of payouts that Congressional Republicans have called a political slush fund.

Former Attorneys General Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch regularly arranged for major corporations to make large “donations” to left-leaning groups like UnidosUS — formerly the National Council of La Raza — and NeighborWorks America during settlement negotiations to end banking, environmental, civil-rights, and other federal lawsuits.

This one?:

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-04- ... hind-firms

The D.C. lobbying firm founded in 1993 by John and Tony Podesta folded shop following Hillary Clinton's monumental loss in the 2016 US election, when a flood of clients ran for the door virtually overnight, realizing the Podesta Group's influence ended with the Clinton campaign.

The Journal describes Tony Podesta's fall as a "calamitous collapse" following the 2016 US election:

Then he fell, a calamitous collapse propelled by unexpected blows, delivered by fate and made worse by hubris. Financial problems, legal threats and the election of President Donald Trump took it all away—the clients, the firm and, finally, Mr. Podesta’s position as one of Washington’s most influential players.

Here are some cliff notes from the report:

The Podesta Group ended 2015 as Washington D.C.'s third largest Lobbying firm, with nearly $30 million in revenue from over 100 clients - who promptly bailed after Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 election. That didn't seem to bother Tony.
The string of embarrassing news accounts disturbed many of the Podesta Group’s corporate clients, companies that preferred to stay clear of such publicity. Mr. Podesta operated as if the whole mess would soon blow over. -WSJ

Yeah, but I read the WSJ one. That's main messages were Podesta tried to expand by working with right wing groups and questionable left wing ones. That backfired as he got undone by working with a Russian bank under sanctions. He's also portrayed as a pig that was buying expensive art while not being able to make payroll. Tie in here is that he was chummy with right wingers too like Haley Barbour.

Isn't this what Fauxcahontas had the CFPB doing? Fining big corporations (extorting?) and directing the money to liberal causes
