Ken Ward is reporting that Freedom Industries also did not self-report the spill as they are required to do.

OK now this is right in my wheelhouse.

I'm not sure that 4Meth has an RQ (reportable quantity)...we used it in Cu flotation and there wasn't an RQ associated with it then...still it might be a NPDES permit requirement. It is a TSCA chemical (but so is about everything).

The worse thing about the stuff is it highly flammable but low on explosive oomph. OSHA deems it hazardous but DOT doesn't. EPA doesn't list it in SARA, CWA or RCRA specifically listed but is considered ignitable and hence a hazardous waste under RCRA but very rarely is a spill of a product considered a haz waste incident.

That being said you hate for anything like this to happen and when something has a specific gravity less than water then clean up is impossible.

A responders nightmare.
I only post using 100% recycled electrons.

It'll dissipate into the atmosphere quick enough...much faster on nice clear hot summer days.
