Separation of sanity and state. DeBlazio wants holidays for

Post by oaktonhokie »

the Muslims.

No hindus though, only the Muslims.

If we're nice to the snakes, they won't bite us.

That's ok, our kids are waaaay too smart already. And with the idiots in front of the classroom and the morons in administration, maybe the fewer the days, the better.

New York, you asked for it, here it comes.

But aren't these holidays completely religious based? If so, I'm sure the ACLU will file suit to stop them.

Has the ACLU ever taken such action against Christmas?
Do schools have religious holidays of any type now? Christmas break became winter break. Easter break became spring break. I'm not aware of schools actually taking specific religious holidays off anymore. I would think there would be an excellent case made based on church/state issues if they did.

NYC gives kids off the week of passover, but I think they call it spring break.

So it's not specific to the religious holiday then. Just like winter break used to be Christmas break.

Again, not sure how your Mayor (he really strikes me as an extremist) can justify recognizing a specific religious holiday then,

Good grief - is this list longer than the list of days that are not exceptions?

80: I'm pretty sure that schools are allowed to take holidays that a significant majority of students into consideration in making their schedules.

Back to my original point: if NYC is giving their students the same number of days of education as suburban atlanta, why do you care how they arrange their schedule. Oakton?

My guess is that the city budget for street cleaning only covers 150 days a year or so. Kind of like how the budget we allot to schools is for (I'm guessing), 200 days a year.

I don't get the concern, but happy not to have to move my car on Idul-Fitr.

Silly question ip. WHY they grant vacation daze is very important.

They will not acknowledge the Christmas holiday but now have a WINTER HOLIDAY.
There is not an easter break in most schools but a SPRING BREAK

If they had a day for Satanists, communists, criminals or to celebrate transgender America.... Are those daze ok with you? Shouldn't the daze off be important to the kids and shouldn't they know why, memorial day, veterans' day, GW birthday are important?

Not as important as cinqo de mayo, but you know....
