You think the big fusion reactor in the sky or the winds and tides are unreliable?
Such a silly statement. Why would we pay higher prices for fossil fuels when renewables are so much cheaper? Of course we won’t.

Re: Imagine cutting electrical output 50%
Fake news. Solar doesn't need fully dedicated space, it repurposes rooftops, parking spaces, etc. Second, only a tiny fraction of the earth would need to be dedicated to solar in order to meet our global energy needs. Elemental power can exist in the footprint vacated by non-viable coal power plants. Appreciate the concern, but Elon has this all sorted out already.HokieHam wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 12:45 pmHokieJoe wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 11:59 pmFormer GDR communist Merkel: Hey Vlad, can vee get some natural gas over here already? A) Solar and wind are not reliable sources of energy generation in every region.
B) United States crude oil production factors into the world market price of oil.

Compared to fossil fuels, batteries are extremely green.
Don’t fall victim to the misinfo out there. This is a massive improvement.

This entire premise is dead wrong. The sun is FAR more reliable than Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iran, etc. the US production has a marginal impact on global oil prices. OPEC has had the US economy by the balls by 50 years. Solar prices drop every year, by a lot. Oil prices increase over time. Solar’s share grows every year. Coal’s viability drops every year. It is a supplement fuel, at best, as renewables share of energy production grows every year.

Do you have the audacity to say it’s smart to have dependable sources?
You will be excommunicated from The Church of Gaia and Central Authority.
This thread is almost as stupid as the one blaming the road collapse in Philly on fossil fuels
Compared to fossil fuels, batteries are extremely green.
Don’t fall victim to the misinfo out there. This is a massive improvement.
Compared to fossil fuels, I cannot think of anything like this in the petro industry:
So I put (the dead dog) on her doorstep!
Salute the Marines
Soon we'll have planes that fly 22000 mph
"#PedoPete" = Hunter's name for his dad.

Re: Imagine cutting electrical output 50%
The Africa fossil fuel industry is ruining large parts of Africa. It's not really about the industry, it's about Africa being led by generally horrible people that don't care about their citizens.RiverguyVT wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 2:17 pmHorse and buggy - your team is going insane over livestock. You can mine or extract anything in a safe manner, but they don't do it because it's expensive and there are plenty of people that will take the risk because it's such a poor continent.

If you are placing people on teams, I’ll go with the scientists who’ve measured global warming. Feel free to join the flat earth, anti-science crew who deny global warming.RiverguyVT wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 2:17 pmHorse and buggy - your team is going insane over livestock. I fear you don’t know much about the fossil fuel industry. It’s a very dirty industry largely led by awful authoritarian leaders like Putin, the Saudis, the Iranians, etc. not exactly know for their ethics or employment practices.

Hint: the science is biased and severely flawed
Also, the climate has been changing for millions of years and will continue to do so.
