The Islamic riots in France are a consequence of France’s identity crisis.
There are two different versions of France: A Catholic France that embraces its 1,500+ years of history, and a secular, multicultural France that spits on its own history as “backwards” and “unenlightened”.
For the past 150 years, the latter vision has been dominant. We are witnessing the consequences. It turns out when you hate your own history and religious traditions, immigrants also have no reason to respect you.
Rejecting Catholic moral philosophy also means that French leadership is paralyzed; it can’t come to any moral conclusion about how to address the crisis. Riots like this will continue indefinitely as long as the current French regime exists.
