SCOTUS did not rule on whether it was an insurrection, or not an insurrection.
I'm not sure who is more upset, Hokie80 or the J6 apologists!

As has generally been the case for the last few years, SCOTUS made the right decision - states don't have the authority to remove Federal candidates from a ballot, and Congress would have to approve legislation to change the current rules.
