Democrat presidents love cruise missiles for some reason. They're always a huge waste of money. Clinton's strike on Iraq was a waste...this would be too. OTOH, the Russians have equipped the Syrians too well for us to risk air assets overhead...or the diplomatic issues.

Yep, that way they get to attack people and still make Americans think they're anti-war.

No way. Chuck4VT told us constantly that Obama has, among other miracles, made people in other countries like us again. It must have been the drones dropping all those bombs of love on so many countries.

haha, exactly.
I have a feeling you'll disagree, but they do respect power and shows of force. That's the way they operate in that part of the world. It's ugly and defiantly challenges our values, but Egypt is what we get when someone isn't making the radicals their whipping boy. As bad as the various dictators we've propped up have been, they really aren't any different than the people they elect on their own. Only friendly to us and that's important when they're flying around in our jets and driving our tanks. Even if watered down versions, they still give them an edge and a fighting chance against us or the radicals.
I'm pulling a preemptive strike on the we should pull out argument. We're still too dependent on oil. Even with shale oil and offshore drilling, us pulling out will leave a vacuum that the Chinese will fill because they have very few oil reserves(that they've made public, I think they have some huge reserves if the explored. They have dinosaur bones, all the other hallmarks of an oil field, and giant tracts of land[no, literally]). And that's important because Europe is in the same predicament and would become dependent upon communists for their energy needs. That's a recipe for conflict. If we were to go isolationists and say "let Europe deal with that", we'll eventually get sucked into the conflict anyway. On the other hand, is it cheaper(in terms of life and treasure) to let the world flare up from time to time only to build an army and squelch it once it got too close to our doors? Who knows, but we also could easily lose too if the conflict got too big and out of control.

its really amazing how certain factions think they can buck the truth that all nations act out of their own self interest (and how Arab States respond only to strength in leadership). It has nothing to do with how well a progressive politician can give a speech or how his media fluffers can make him look in photo ops. I've been rereading the McCollough Bio of John Adams and its amazing how Adams understood this time and again in his dealings with European States of the 18th century and yet all the learned smart types running our government now do not. President Obama has treated the State Department position as a dumping ground for intra-party political opponents and ciphers and the results speak for themselves.

You're right, I don't agree. You get points for the "tracts of land" though.awesome guy wrote:haha, exactly.

That's certainly avoidable... by just not going to war.awesome guy wrote:we'll eventually get sucked into the conflict anyway.

His whole (hole) administration is one big train wreck....in almost every way. For having been in power for more than four years, you would think they would stop looking like the keystone cop administration.awesome guy wrote:What a trainwreck Obama's foreign policy has been.
