Obamacare is bait & switch for Single-Payer

Post by Techmomof2 »

Democrats landed on earth to nurture working Americans. How ironic, then, that "Obamacare" is hammering U.S. laborers. From terminated coverage to truncated schedules, the Democrats' reputed constituency is paying dearly for President Barack Obama's massive, $2.6 trillion healthcare "reform." "If you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan. Period," Obama infamously claimed while peddling the Affordable Care Act. "No one will take it away. No matter what." These words will trail Obama for life.

Companies have dropped workers from their health plans and dumped them into Obamacare's exchanges.

As The Weekly Standard's Ben Schachter reports the insurer for the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, the Dramatists Guild, and the Graphic Arts Guild announced: "All individual and/or Sole Proprietor Health Insurance will terminate Jan. 1, 2014."

I think you are being optimistic. We are all going to Medicaid once amnesty is granted and they all go for their 'free' preventive care. Good luck getting an appointment. I know several docs in Roanoke who have already resigned and a few more planning to Jan 1, 2014. For Docs who plan to retire in 1-7 years, it will cost them money to make the changes in their private practices. Not worth doing. And if you haven't noticed, private practice is rapidly disappearing with the destruction of the confidential doc-patient relationship. But low information voters still think they will get Cadillac medicine for free. The leveling point is not at the top, it's at the bottom. Even the Unions are waking up.

Let's hope. Single payer is the best (and only) feasible option going forward.

The "obamacare fiasco" has little to do with a single-payer plan.

The single payer are the same idiots responsible for the obamacare fiasco. You want them the only player in the market? They can't even make a login screen. And you want them running your healthcare?

Why do you think the Government controlling every aspect of your health care is a good thing? Most of these decisions will be made by non-physician panels. Plus the 'Navigators' have not been vetted and will have full access to your medical and financial information. Obamacare is not about better health care. It's a massive transfer of wealth and power grab by the Executive Branch that creates dozens of new agencies to regulate your life. Please read the 2,000+ page Bill, Oh, and they added 30,000 pages of more regulations.

To really improve health care, all they needed to do is
1. allow private health insurance companies to compete across State lines.
2. address tort reform
3. have effective health savings accounts that roll over
4. no need to insure everyone. Allow heath care providers to deduct free care from income.

That's all. Obamacare addresses none of these. Please read it. You won't like it.

And how much confidence do you have in light of what the IRS has done to the current Admin's opponents, that the same won't be done with so-called private health information? I don't care which party is in power. That is wrong.

The best option going forward is a true free-market approach, but free-market scares the living daylights out of leftists so it would never get through Congress.

Why do you believe this? What specifically about a single payer system makes you believe it is appropriate for the US and can be successful for all involved?

just ask folks in the UK or Canada, yes it works somewhat and yes it has huge flaws...kind if like our current system. We have real world examples, not sure why that is so hard for folks that want one pay to understand.

But to those that think it will cut huge costs to go one payer, WHY? Are doctors going to be making a lot less, are hospitals cutting all their costs way down to accept the new reality? Is a person going to go to school for 12 years, stack up a mountain of debt for a $50k per year job? What are hospitals cutting the cost of? which line item goes way down under one payer?
