do we have actual IL posters or are those people checking out the site while waiting on their connecting flight? And I thought Artic left Alaska, how else is that? NSA surveillance?

I wonder if the NSA computer names are as inconspicuous as Flowers By Irene?

These aren't necessarily posters - they could just be someone who visited the site once out of curiosity.

Also, if you use Tapatalk, it doesn't show up here - it's only going to show up on Google Analytics if you use a browser. So that's going to skew the results away from people actually posting and more towards lurkers.

Google has a new toy that even shows you how many users are active on the site right this minute and what they are viewing.

This is downright creepy.

(No, it doesn't make available to me any kind of personally identifiable information, although I'm sure they have it for their own purposes ... as does the NSA ...)

If you're using your cell phone plan's data connection and not wifi, it could say you're from anywhere.

Do you know that to be the case? Google knows where your phone is ... do they just go off of the reported geolocation of your IP address or is it possible that Google Analytics knows your actual location from Google?

We can attempt to test it. My phone's IP is currently 166.147.124.14, which is Kansas. I'm on the posting tutorial page ?f=7&t=79

According to https://support.google.com/analytics/an ... 1360?hl=en, "City location may not be accurate for visits from mobile devices".

From what I understand, Google can get your phone location from various places. Obviously there's the IP address, but unless you're on wifi, that won't do them much good. Even your IP often won't narrow it down all the way to your house (for instance, it could show your ISP's location). Depending on the phone, it potentially can use the GPS, however, some phones (like the iPhone) require an opt-in per app or globally for apps to access it.
