Are you trying to spoil the new movie?

Add excitement! Are you going to have a lightsaber battle before the movie?

Seriously, seeing a movie in Hollywood is one of the best advantages of living out there. I'd take the hour+ drive south out of the desert and into Hollyweird for the opening.

Headed to the Arc Light in Sherman Oaks. It's like a luxury cinema. You pay out the nose but the full bar along with no children allowed make it worth it*.

*I don't hate children but don't ruin my star wars experience!

Sherman Oaks is for old people. You need to hit at least Burbank proper for the good weirdo stuff. And that's still a distant second from Hollyweird. Sherman Oaks isn't worth the drive, might as well hit the Valencia Town Center theater if that's your plan or something in the Antelope Valley. Though I'd leave AV just to get a different crowd. Get a dirt bike(that's always a motorcycle in LA) too, just because.

Don't live in AV. Live in the Valley. Work in AV and Ventura. I've got enough hollywood friends and the g/f was hospitalized down there. I want a nice and serene viewing experience. The line for the movie started forming outside of the Chinese Theater on Monday.

Ok. Be a wuss and miss out on the best LA has to offer. Not my loss.

here's one for you Elberto :)

Dead serious, if you're not a mall walking weenie then your biggest regret about living in LA is if you don't own a dirt bike, dune buggy, or any other motorized sand runner. It's one of the few places in America where you can use one without owning or having access to dozens or hundreds of acres. There's so much public land without trees and the like that it's crying for an iron horse. Tons and tons of sand are available. At least get a 4x4 to play in it. It's a million times better than any suburban offering they have, just bring plenty of water and gasoline to burn. As much as I like fishing, if I moved back out there then I would have a dune buggy instead of a boat. That's partially from the fishing generally stinking next to what we have in VA, but also from the much greater opportunities to chew sand. Plus it's a gateway drug to RVing which is another activity that makes the most sense out there.
