Looking at log splitters and chippers.
Just not familiar with their brands.

A lot is junk, but cheap. I'd be suspicious of a log splitter, but it could be great too. It's not all junk.

My son has the need for a lot of splitting and chipping.

what is the engine? If it is a briggs and stratton it should be fine. A splitter is pretty simple anyways. I have a splitter that I got from a friend a long time ago, replaced the engine and hydraulic pump and a hose over the years but no issues with it. I like briggs and stratton engines though, usually indestructible and I use my splitter a ton, we heat the house with wood

Should run then! Biggest thing to look for at Northern Tool is stuff rusting from cheap metal. It's pretty much Harbor Freight.
