Thoughts/Prayers for those inclined

Post by nolanvt »

Having a little bit of a health situation that's concerning, but I tend to be pessimistic with my family's health history, so it could be nothing.

Basically, I'm having some recurring issues with tingling in my hands and forearms. On Sunday, I had some difficulty holding up a glass of milk with my left hand, but the loss of strength was only temporary. I have an appointment with a Neuro in early May, so we'll see what happens.

Thanks for the prayers/thoughts, guys. You all on UWS are my peeps.

Can I ask if you've sought medical evaluation in the meantime? Considering you already had a consult scheduled, I'm guessing you are concerned about risk for stroke? If you are feeling those signs, I'd encourage not to wait until May. Disregards if you've already done so but if not, please see a doctor man. Don't play with that.

Fortunately, this coincided with my annual physical and reported my symptoms to my PCP who ran through a checklist of questions. The Doc said I could wait until the appointment in early May, so I'm guessing it's not a stroke. I'm still functioning well at work and still doing well on my practice questions/tests for the (hopefully) final part of the exam. We'll see what happens.

A loss of strength and a limp wrist... sounds like a case of the ghey! If he gets an itchy bung hole then he need report to the nearest church.

I don't think reporting to the Catholic Church near me will help...

You're confusing them with UMC. Unless you're a prepubescent boy, then they'll want to probe the issue, deeply.

As disturbing as the symptoms can be, it could be something as simple as you're sleeping on your arm which pinches some of the nerves controlling your fingers.

Yes, you absolutely should see a doctor to get it sorted out, but there's a really good chance that it's not something serious.

Yep, I've done the same thing before. Takes a couple months for the nerve damage to repair.

Awesome, if you ever wonder why people think you are a little TOO obsessed with homosexuality- look no further than this thread.

I'm having fun with the guy that starts 90% of the ghey threads here and said those of us who think homosexuality is a sin should go to reeducation camps. It's normal UWS fare, like turning any CW thread into a feminism thread.

That may be it. We'll see, although it was a tad worse today with tingling in both arms/hands. I did the worst thing possible and Googled the symptoms. If I don't have cancer/ALS, it could be something as simple as a B-12 vitamin deficiency or drinking too much causing nerve damage (I admittedly drink too much).

Nolan, problems in the spine often manifest themselves in pain or tingles in the arms, as the nerves start at the central nervous system. Maybe you just have two vertebrae choking a nerve or something. Know what I mean? You're a youngin, right?

Have you gone to a physical therapist? A good one is worth their weight in gold. Ask your doctor if he will recommend one. Look at every other option before allowing yourself to be cut open IMHO. Good luck!

My brother-in-law and sister-in-law are both physical therapists, so I'll get their input after the Neuro appointment. I'm just wondering what point should I go to Urgent Care or the ER if things get worse. Yesterday, I had some dull pain in both of my arms with the slightest bit of trembling in both of my hands.

I would see a specialist soon. Sounds like MS. At least they can put worry to rest or figure out what's going on. Urgent Care is just as the name implies, for emergencies. You'll often get a moonlighting dermatologist or other doctor operating outside thier speciality at those places. I would only go if it gets critical.
