looks pricey, but I had one friend recommend it for kayaks. Not only to keep it shiny and new looking, but for more speed! Supposedly it will reduce surface tension on the water, giving even less drag on the yak. Anyone used it on plastic before?

Serious answer: Probably unless you apply it PAINSTAKINGNLY. It would probably take way more time and effort than you or anyone wants to devote to waxing their kayak.
I checked the MSDS on your 303 and its a fairly benign product to have around the house/car hole (no abnormally high risks associated with inhalation, etc.). Just keep it out of your eyes and take your wedding ring off before and wash your hands when you're done. Its also recommended for use on plastic. Give it a shot. If it doesn't work, use it on your tires.

you're assuming that even the most delicate of measuring instruments could detect "drag" on your kayak as-is, vs w/ that stuff on it.
By chance, does the guide sell it?
Fish will smell it.
If that's worth infinitesimally less drag that you'd never notice, so be it.
Carry on.

Haha. Naw , he just uses it. But he is a saltwater guide where scent is not much of an issue. I didn't think about it for smallies on the James.RiverguyVT wrote:awesome guy wrote:A guide recommended it to meRiverguyVT wrote:awesome guy wrote:looks pricey, but I had one friend recommend it for kayaks. Mostly. It's in the garage where just a slither of light comes in during the morning.RiverguyVT wrote:do you keep the boat out of the sun, when stored?

Re: not for lunch, but has anyone used 303 Aerospace Protect
pulled the trigger on the 303. Sure cleaned it up the yak, took the faint scum line off too. I immensely respect the opinion of Riverguy and the scent point was a big factor. That said, when I'm in the river or freshwater, I'm after catfish or stripers. So scent wouldn't be an issue since this is a petroleum product and so will be on the surface. I throw out bottom rigs for those species. And when I'm fishing with lures, I'm in saltwater and it won't matter there. I may sex wax the foot areas for traction while standing. The dude at the marine store also recommended it, so I got it. I hope the nice and pretty shine doesn't scare off the fish or attract big sharks
