Some people may think we're idiots, but we're not that dumb

Some people may think we're idiots, but we're not that dumb

From Andy Bitter's column http://www.roanoke.com/sports/columns_a ... e1630.html
-- Shane said people email him all the time to tell him the Hokies are tipping their plays by what back is in the game (ie. McMillian on jet sweeps, Rogers on passing downs).

"Some people may think we're idiots, but we're not that dumb," he said. "We know that we have to break some tendencies"
Well, if you know that you need to do it, THEN WHY AREN'T YOU DOING IT?

Our offense is getting back to Stinespring levels of predictability. For whatever can be said of Loeffler - good, bad, or indifferent - when he took over, our playcalling got far less predictable. When Stinespring was the OC, every person in the stadium knew what play was coming. Sometimes, our talent was good enough that it didn't matter - everyone knew we were going to ram Jones at them and they couldn't stop him. But other times it meant we were punting 9 times a game.

When Loeffler took over, that changed. You couldn't guess just from the formation what was coming any more.

Unfortunately, we've regressed. And we don't have the talent to regress. We're too predictable now and superior talent isn't bailing out bad coaching like it used to.
