Hate to admit that as a lifetime soccer hater, i'm kinda interested in the world cup.

Hope we beat the Rias today.

I wonder if every game were sudden death, first team to score wins....if the outcomes would change much, if at all.

How many times in big time soccer does the team that scores first, lose?

I'm similar to you in that I'll only watch the World Cup. Took me a while to learn the quirky offsides rule.

The rias just scored. Is it racist to root for USA vs Ghana?

Holy shirt Uruguay over England 2-1...suicide watches are in effect in London right now. 0-2 with Italy left doesn't look good.

The offsides rule is just like the one in hockey. It's just that hockey has a defined line for it whereas soccer 's is based on the defender location.

At least that's the way it made sense to me.

Soccer should implement a set line offsides rule. If the defenders don't like it, be in better position.

It sure would take the subjectivity out of it a bit. But even with a set line, would the rule still be where the attacker was prior to the ball being kicked into the zone or would the ball have to be in the zone before the attacker can break?

That said - I don't ever see it changing. Especially just to make it easier on the "arrogant" Americans who don't play the game well ;>)

Ball crosses the line before the offensive player.

I think it's simply that in order for the ball to be passed to you, you have to have 2 defenders between you and the goal (the goalie counts as one of the defenders).

I assume we wanted germany to eliminate Ghana. As racist as that is.

But I guess if we beat the geese tomorrow we advance, right?

Late yellow card on Muntari and the penalty kick by Kroos made an interesting ending.

First half observations against the geese. From someone who knows nothing about soccer.

That ronaldo guy looks like a dandy, a pansy, a metrosexual. Does he wear makeup? I don't like him.

Looks like we are out playing the geese except for that one excruciatingly stupid play.
