Anybody concerned Tillerson is on the way out.
While the earlier reports of tension were dismissed, I don't think one can deny the tension that currently exists between the two. I hope Tillerson will continue to swallow his pride and better personal judgment for the good of the country.

Not sure. I hope he stays. That said, I think the military and ex-military guys on staff have more of an Obama/left/democrat slant than I'm happy with, and they seem to have a huge influence on him.

It would suck. Tillerson has been pretty good IMO. Not sure who would replace him, but probably someone worse, and needs to be someone who can push back against Trump, and cover for his silliness.ip_law-hokie wrote:While the earlier reports of tension were dismissed, I don't think one can deny the tension that currently exists between the two. Stability isn't this administration's thing. I like Rex and am glad he's battled Trump as long as he has.

I actually think it is good to have a counter balance between the POTUS and the SOS, as long as they communicate. Ultimately it is the POTUS call and the SOS needs to defer, but conflicting views and perspectives are positive things. Nothing in diplomacy is black and white.

Sadly, Corker's assessment about the White House being an adult day care center appears accurate by all accounts.nolanvt wrote:Stability isn't this administration's thing. I like Rex and am glad he's battled Trump as long as he has.

What kind of thin skinned middle schooler responds with who has the bigger IQ? (I'd bet against Trump for what it's worth) I mean, we would laugh at someone on a message board doing that. Can you imagine the POTUS saying something so immature?HokieHam wrote:I’m hoping for a IQ test duel.ip_law-hokie wrote:and that's going to draw Trump's ire, whoever it is.HokieFanDC wrote:needs to be someone who can push back against Trump, and cover for his silliness.ip_law-hokie wrote:While the earlier reports of tension were dismissed, I don't think one can deny the tension that currently exists between the two. He is also real and says what he wants to, rather refreshing for politicians. As for Corker, that guy should have resigned a long time ago, he is not representing his people

With Trump, unfortunately yes. But, as long as he keeps chipping away at the Obeezy legacy I can somewhat get over it. Oh, and Hillary isn’t President......and to see her reactions is just priceless.BG Hokie wrote:What kind of thin skinned middle schooler responds with who has the bigger IQ? While I like Tillerson, he does not seem to be fully on board the MAGA train, so if he leaves, so be it. But I hope he takes that turd HR McMaster with him.

Saying that they disagreed somewhat is a huge understatement, given the low class manner in which Trump went about airing his disagreement. And I assure that Trump's twitter tirade about Tillerson wasting his time was viewed to this corporate guy as the lowest class move possible.
I disagree with Tillerson politically, but he has earned the right to be treated with more respect. He is more fit for the job than his boss. All, except the staunchest of Trump supporters, accept this.
