Not sure how a sane person could support the courts here. They're just mad and acting out.

Legally, you should start with the VARA.

Practically, you shouldn’t disobey a judge.

Only in NYC would a judge rule in favor of graffiti artists over the property owner because of hurt feelings. Essentially, the ruling didn't say he didn't have a right to paint over the graffiti and to ultimately tear down the building, but rather that he was mean and spiteful (how dare they tell him what he can so with his building!) and didn't consider the feelings of the artists and the community.

The building owner needs to go over this bleeding hearts head all the way to the supreme court if necessary.

IP should be cautious about supporting lawsuits for meanness and pettiness. Some gangster could also tag his fence around his 2x10 backyard and then he can't paint it over or tear it down.

No way this stands. I think it's time we impeach these kook judges, like the one that blocked DACA dissolution, as the judicial branch is out of control. Their power has gone to their heads.

F the 'artist(s)' and F the community. It's a personal property issue. End of story.

Apparently Jeter wants to remove that hideous mural in centerfield of MArlins Park that looks to be designed by a blind 6 year old, but he can't because it is considered "art" or some bullshit. This sounds like much of the same. 99% of NYC is a craphole, anyway.

So, If I read correctly, if he would have just torn down the buildings as planned, as as his right as property owner, there would have been no issue?? LOL- tear down graffit- no big deal, oh well "artist" too bad your art was torn down for high rises.. BUT PAINT over it before tear down?? nope, that will cost you 6.7 million. LOL- the judge should give that money to the thousands of starving kids in NYC.

Agree- if he would have just set a bulldozer to them one day, no issue by law. But to paint over them..blasphemy apparently. Ridiculous

Indeed. Two tall, powerful yet benevolent white men.

My neighbors in Harlem complimen me that I look like a young Bill DeBlasio.
